The documentary gives you an insider’s view of how the ship works from the bottom up – how it’s powered, the innumerable jobs the staff all have to do simultaneously, and the guests’ experience day in and day out. After the first COVID-19 case was identified in the U.S., while the ship had been travelling around Asia, American passengers Cheryl and Paul Molesky were told by Paul's daughter to not get off the ship in Hong Kong because there was a virus going around. But there weren't a lot of concerns about the virus for anyone on the cruise at that point. The story plays out like one of those potboiler mysteries that Agatha Christie might have written in that time period; lots of colorful characters, all with an agenda and a motive, populate the ship, and mysteries abound. Sometimes, we thought Campos and Neira were a bit too coy with some of the mysteries, as when the ship’s doctor has a cryptic conversation with Uncle Pedro about what they might be doing when they arrive in Rio.
